2015 Future K-12 German Teacher Award—Brittany Shaver – Delta Phi Alpha
This year’s recipient of the Future K-12 German Teacher Award is Brittany Shaver. Brittany is pursuing both a Master of Arts in German Studies as well as a Master of Teaching World Languages with a concentration in German at the University of Kentucky, with the goal of inspiring her future K-12 students to love German and German culture as much as she does. She is clearly a reflective, engaging instructor as a TA at UK, and her research on anxiety in the classroom, which she presented at the Alabama Modern Languages Conference this spring, underscores her commitment to the field. Congratulations, Brittany! You are clearly well on your way to having an impact in German classrooms for years to come.
Brittany writes:
“I am truly honored and thrilled to be a recipient of the 2015 Future K-12 German Teacher Award. I’m so grateful for the professors at the University of Kentucky who continue to encourage and inspire me through their teaching of the German language. In addition, I’m excited to have a German classroom of my own and share my love for this wonderful language, culture and people. I hope to inspire my own students in their learning of the German language and guide them throughout the various stages of their lives.”
