Spring Inductions: W&J College German Honorary turns 60!
The Delta Lambda Chapter of Delta Phi Alpha at Washington & Jefferson College inducted students yesterday on its 60th anniversary. The induction was part of the modern languages departmental language society event culminating in a common reception of the German, French, Spanish, and Foreign Language (Chinese & Russian) honorary societies.
The Delta Phi Alpha Chapter at W&J College was founded in 1956. German has been taught at W&J since the 1830s. W&J German Professor J. Adolph Schmitz published a widely used textbook for German in the late 19th century: Elements of the German Language
