2017 Fall DPA Study Abroad Scholarship Winner: Griffin
Delta Phi Alpha, the National Collegiate German Honorary Society, is proud to announce the 2017 Fall Study abroad scholarship recipient:
William Griffin, College of the Holy Cross
Willam Griffin
Our congratulations to William Griffin, this year’s winner of the Delta Phi Alpha Fall / Winter Semester German Study Abroad Scholarship. Will studies at the College of the Holy Cross, where he is an Honors Student who has distinguished himself in German and History coursework. Although he did not take German in high school, he has made quick progress and will study abroad for the entire 2017-2018 academic year at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität in Bamberg. He looks forward to immersing himself in the language and culture of this university town. He is interested in history and politics as well, and will conduct research into the rise of the German populist right, particularly the Alternative für Deutschland, in preparation for an honors thesis his senior year. Will plans to go on to a PhD program in German studies, and he looks forward to the year in Bamberg as necessary immersion in the language and culture to achieve that goal.
William writes:
“ I am writing to officially accept the scholarship award of $1250 from Delta Phi Alpha. With this award, I look forward to exploring the German culture and expanding my German language skills”
